Radical Care: Resistance and Surrender
Audre Lorde argued that caring for oneself is not an act of self-indulgence but one of self-preservation. With mainstream culture’s rhetoric of “self-care,” radical care can be viewed as the only means to survive a precarious present. We will discuss different strategies for building systems of care (and pleasure) as an integral part of artistic practice in order to make way for a sustainable future.

Thursday April 16th
The Public Record
“Who knows? Who decides who knows? Who decides who decides who knows?” The inequality of knowledge, as Shoshana Zuboff wrote recently in the New York Times, produces an inequality of power. We will discuss the importance of making visible powerful archives that have been overlooked, and how to redefine what constitutes the “public record.”

Friday April 17th
Political Weather and Bodies That Resist
This conversation, organized by guest curator Jeff Khan, brings together artists who transform their bodies to forge new possibilities for ours. From Indigenous sovereignty to gender and sexual diversity, to the future of the human species in an era of catastrophic climate change.

Saturday April 18th
The Case of Reality Winner
Join us for a conversation about Reality’s case with her mother Billie Jean Winner Davis and attorney Alison Grinter.
